Dorette Amell

I reference religious paintings as well as popular culture and folk art. I often attempt to give form to various notions of Creation, Resurrection, Reincarnation and the nature of Divinity. I am equally interested in the symbolic meaning and the superficial appearance of an image. I am fascinated by the clichéd, the seemingly mundane, and subscribe to the notion that the whole is often greater than the sum of the parts. I rely on chance associations within an overall plan. I do not restrict myself to any one medium or genre.
